As part of our management service to landlords, we offer a full design appraisal with our in house interior design team. With this, we make suggestions on how to transform the property to help maximise attraction and ultimately achieve a higher value let.
Here is a refurbishment on a 7 bedroom house on Goulden Road, West Didsbury.
The property is in a great West Didsbury location and has large rooms throughout, however the inside looked very dated and the decor was catered more towards students. There was a lack of personality in the living room and the kitchen was very small compared to the adjoining dining room. The dining room wasn’t utilised correctly and looked very unappealing, with old built in shelving, no dining room table and several little fridges.
How did we overcome this?
We felt like we needed to inject some personality into the living room. To achieve this, we up-cycled the existing furniture and removed any excess which was not needed. We added patterned coloured furnishings and bought new artwork, including a large 5 piece canvas of Brooklyn Bridge.
One key piece of up-cycled furniture was transforming an old shelving unit. We added a blue tiled effect and lighting inside glass jars. Not only did it look great but it also added a splash of colour to the room.
Kitchen / Dining room:
Inside the kitchen we removed an old shelf and replaced it with eye level kitchen cabinets to create more storage.
We wanted to add character and transform the dining room into the coolest space in the house and a place for the future housemates to hang out. To add character, we created a tropical theme feature wall and painted the woodwork a vibrant orange. We added a large 8 seater dining table, as well as an American style fridge freezer. The room was then topped off with a mirror and some artwork.
